Abstract: A gong was one of knocking music instruments appearing very early in the history and in Vietnam long long ago. This kind of things were made from many various materials (stone, bronze, iron, gold . . . ) and had different functions. The Vietnam Historical Museum in Ho Chi Minh city is keeping one beautiful bronze gong, a type of "gathering" gongs used often in temples which the archaeologists probably definited that it was made at Dai Loc hamlet, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien-Hue province in 1842. Thought singular, this gong contributes more data to the study of Vietnam history and culture in the Nguyen Dynasty (the 19th century).
